Academic Integrity for the Degree Examination of Graduate Students for Academic Year 2023

Due to frequent news reports regarding thesis and dissertation disputes, NYCU has amended the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Regulations for Conferral of Graduate Degrees and prepared a Rules for Thesis by Publication (“TBP”, also thesis with publication) (link: https://aa.nycu.edu.tw/reg/reg-regulations/) to protect faculty and students.

In accordance with the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Regulations for Conferral of Graduate Degrees, after passing the degree examination (oral defense), graduate students should:

  1. Submit the “Thesis Defense Grading Sheet”and “Paper Thesis” to the Division of Registrar;
  2. Submit the “Statement of Academic Ethics and Originality Comparison (original copy)” and “Information and Co-author Contribution Statement of Thesis by Publication” to thecorresponding teaching unit and include the Information and Co-author Contribution Statement of Thesis by Publication in the thesis. Please refer to the “National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Thesis and Dissertation Formats” for the binding order. If the TBP is adopted, please also submit the “Consent of Acceptance of a Thesis by Publication” to the corresponding teaching unit. Graduate students should submit aforementioned documents to the corresponding teaching unit before uploading it to the thesis upload system to facilitate verification.
  3. Before activating the graduation process, graduate students must upload the “electronic file of the thesis abstract and full text”, “Thesis Originality Comparison Report”, and “Statement of Academic Ethics and Originality Comparison” (as shown below) via the thesis upload system in the NYCU library. The graduation process will not be activated if a student fails to upload the “Thesis Originality Comparison Report”, and “Statement of Academic Ethics and Originality Comparison”.

The above regulations apply to all graduate students applying for oral defense from August 1, 2023. Faculty and students in need of this may also download related forms from the website of the Division of the Registrar (link: https://aa.nycu.edu.tw/reg/reg-all-apply-table/).
