Sports in Taiwan

Doing sports is such a big part of Taiwanese culture. If you ask why I think so? For example, every day I see people who run in any weather from dawn to late at night. Of course, we all understand that the presence of sports should be in the life of every person, but in Taiwan it is surprising that indeed a larger number of the population adheres to this advice.

The Sport on The Campus of Our University NYCU

At the beginning, I would like to share my impressions of the sport on the campus of our university. When I first arrived and started exploring the campus, I was amazed at the number of sports facilities. Here, you can practice almost any of the popular sports: indoor and outdoor volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, a huge stadium with treadmills, a large gym with good quality equipment, indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, water massagers, a ping pong gym, horizontal bars, baseball field, badminton gym and more.

For students, most sports facilities can be visited absolutely free of charge, but in some it is necessary to pay a very small amount of money. Also, those who are not students or do not work at the institute can buy subscriptions. For example, I go to the gym almost every day. And every day I see there a lot of people of different ages and levels of training, which cannot but rejoice.

Sometimes, I return very late from the gym and see how, under the light of the lanterns, some guys and girls are still playing basketball and volleyball. And it is not necessary that they need to play professionally, it is very clear that they really sincerely enjoy the process.

Sports League

When it comes to professional sports teams, each sport has its own league. As it seemed to me and by the opinion of my friends, one of the most popular sports in the country is baseball. I can't help but note that in fact, the level of the baseball league in Taiwan can be compared to the American baseball league.

And different facts such as: a very high level of organisation of sports events, many invited foreign athletes and coaches, as well as the number of children who play baseball - confirm my opinion.

Baseball Game

Once, I attended a baseball game in Tainan, before that I was at the Detroit lions game in the US; the sensations and heat during the game were identical. I wanted to go to the final game but the tickets were sold out a long time before.

Also, I would like to note that a very large number of elder people do gymnastics on the street as groups everyday. I have never seen anything like this in Russia.

As a result, I would like to say that people in Taiwan have a lot of good and useful habits that other countries may also adopt.
