Reasons for coming to study in Taiwan – a European perspective
Taiwan might not seem like an obvious choice for many European bachelor students to continue studies, but it offers tremendous opportunities for foreign students of versatile backgrounds. It’s a country popular with expats, is rich in culture, history, nature, and of course top Asian universities. I would like to introduce my top reasons why I decided to study GMBA at NYCU.
Opportunities
Taiwan is an open country offering many social and economic freedoms to its inhabitants, with affordable healthcare, extremely low crime rates, is a proper democracy and it welcomes foreign students and professionals to stay.
Taiwan is also one of the for Asian tiger economies experiencing long-time economic growth and being built on knowledge-based economy which provides unique opportunities for learning.
Studies in Taiwan
Studying in Taiwan offers chance that is truly one of the kind. National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University is located in the center of Hsinchu Science Park, surrounded by leading global tech-companies and research institutes.
NYCU GMBA program is structured to help students learn managerial skills required to join ranks of these industry leading enterprises.
Work
Hsinchu is an area inspired by Silicon Valley and is a home to one of the top ten global companies based on market cap, and many others – over 400 tech companies are in vicinity of NYCU. Part-time jobs are waiting for students and many job fairs and internship invitations are attracting students on regular basis.
Surely it’s great to have opportunities in tech industry since these days Europe has limited options. Summer internships are also popular among GMBA students, and they are a bright spot shining on any student’s resume if one participated.
Language
Official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese, while in NYCU students can participate in classes on different levels of advancement provided by university cost free. Many courses at various departments such as Management are taught in English.
It’s important to note that Taiwanese government has set goal to become a bilingual nation in 2030, so far, it’s been one of the Asian countries where speaking English is the easiest, but the government goal has structured the policy giving all foreign English-speaking students have opportunity to take chance in helping locals learning the language - ELTA program allows students to work part time.
Travel
Taiwan is not advertised as Asia’s prime tourist destination, but in time off studying it’s worth to look around the island of Formosa: access to sea and an ocean, highest peak in eastern Asia – Taiwan truly has it all.
Tropical climate is best way to escape harsh winter of many European countries - weather is a very good reason to come here. Diverse culture makes visit to each city unique and exciting with different delicacies, specialties, events, and holidays.
In conclusion I strongly believe that staying in NYCU offers unparalleled experience, deep knowledge, incredible internship opportunities and many languages exchange options.
As a student who been to several countries - Taiwan was my choice and I can’t provide a truer prove that it’s worth to come here. Please join our class and I’m looking forward to seeing you here in NYCU GMBA.
